We, Martial Arts School Zen-Ki-Budo e.V., want to set an example and take a stand against racism, xenophobia and discrimination. Thus, we welcome refugees to NRW and provide them a special welcome offer in our martial arts school.
Every wednesday from 18:00 to 19:30h a free Jiu Jitsu training session for refugees will be held in our training centre. Our training centre in Wanne-Eickel / Röhlinghausen can be reached easily with buslines 368, 390, 385 and 329.
Also our club members are invited to join this training session to promote refugees' integration, dismantle language borders, live an active culture of welcome and – as a bonus – have one additional day of training. Arabic-German Story hour

In the children’s library of the Central library in the centre of education and administration, Gustav-Heinemann Platz 2-6, a Arabic-German story hour takes place every third Monday at 16:30/ 4.30 pm. Volunteering reading mentors are reading exciting and funny stories in both languages. Cordially invited are boys and girls aged five. Entrance is free. The bilingual read out interferes the joy of reading and contributes language development. Furthermore the small listeners get to know the diverse and multi-language medial-offer of the central library.

CURIOUS OF HUMANS OF ALL NATIONS, OF UNKNOWN SONGS; HARMOYS AND LANGUAGES? SING ALONG WITH „UNITED VOICES“, THE NEW MIXED CHORUS OF THE SCHAUSPIELHAUS BOCHUM!!

Under the direction of experienced voice teachers and singing choach Ulrike Schubert, people of any age, gender and nations are meeting up to sing together once a week. Own and foreign songs, High-, Pop- and folk culture, noisy and quiet, wrong and (mostly) perfect.

A former application or prior vocal knowledge is not required. At the first meetings, a translator (Arabic/German) will interfere – for further meetings and other languages, we are looking for volunteers who are welcome to sing with us.

„Music connects “Wohlfahrtstraße

The music project should give the opportunity to speak the shared language of music in the club house of the DJK Teutonia Ehrenfeld, to interested people of all ages . Thereby it doesn’t matter where you are from, which misery you have suffered or which rank you belong to. It is only about bringing all those people together who plays an instrument or like to learn how to do it, likes to sing, likes to dance or even those who likes to enjoy the music just by listening. At the same time the refugees should get the feeling to be welcome by the elimination of barriers. Maybe we even succeed in realising performances at public events.

The WorldBeatClub projects are financed by donation, whereof just a few instruments might be purchased. However we own ressources to store and transport instruments.

We started with sessions and dance….at the moment drum classes take place each 2nd and 4th Monday per month.

All projects are coordinated by us and organised by donations and volunteered work. Music teachers receive expense allowance. Hence, we are looking forward to any personal or financial support. We are staying in continuous exchange with the volunteers of “Netzwerk Wohlfahrtstraße” and provide support or selective donated items whenever needed.
